I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and naturally Im working on not getting diabetes 2. This meter helps keep me on track every day to learn which foods are okay for me to eat and which foods are not. Its very easy to use once you get the hang of it. Right now I feel like its my friend.

I got this kit based on the need for cheap strips. I was surprised that this company was so cheap it didnt even include an lancing device.... and NO calibration fluid. How would one know that this is reading correctly?. I wish this meter had an alarm feature. Other than that its an ok meter that does the job.

The only two negatives are that this meter does not beep and that the test strips need to be inserted at an upward angle. This does not affect the accuracy of the meter. The test strips are also the best value in quality test strips on the market today.

Maybe I got a bad one, but I will be returning this to Wal Mart. Have been unable to calibrate it using the control solution, (per manual) the readings between this, and the other BG system that my husband has, (requiring much more expensive test strips) , vary as much as 50 points or greater. You dont want your loved one using unnecessary insulin, but when the Relion says your blood sugar is over 200, and your other meter says youre within normal limits, theres something wrong. The meter is extremely easy to use, it came out of the box with all the pertinent time/date info already set and correct. It has a big easy to see display, and tests quickly. See more

I bought this because of the pricing! All the other meters are sooo expensive that I wasnt able to afford the test strips that go to them. I had nothing to lose so gave this one a try. I love it! It works just as well as the pricey brand named meters. My one and ONLY complaint is that its not backlit. Its got no light in it but still easily readable with the lights on. The strips that go with this brand are wayyy more than reasonable in pricing. Same with the lancets. I made the right choice with buying this glucose meter and recommend to friends. See more
