I had my old meter for so long that they decided to stop making the test strips so I had to buy a new one. I have no insurance and have to pay out of pocket so the cost of the test strips matters the most to me when purchasing a new meter. The fact that the strips are half the cost of my old meters strips was a factor but this meter is great. I get a quick reading in just under 5 seconds, no calibrating is needed and the meter shuts off when I remove the strip which is a plus because my old one would just act like it was waiting to do it again. Best meter for the cost and cost effective on the strips. See more

I have used this meter for about seven month, ever since Bayer discontinued its disc-fed Breeze II meter. At first, I was very upset about Bayers decision because I had used the Breeze II for years, but now I like the Contour better that the Breeze. It is smaller -- more portable; test strips load easily; viewer is easy to read. The only negative comment is that the beep alert for the different stages in the test process are very low pitched and difficult for me to hear. I feel certain that many older also experience the same problem. A fix to increase the volume should be simple to apply. I recommend this be incorporated in the next iteration of test meters. Ive been using this product for several months and really glad its the one our insurance company picked. The only thing that would make it better, in my opinion, is if the strips were preloaded in a drum or disk. My arthritis is so bad in my hands that I have trouble grabbing just one strip from the vial. Once I get hold of one though, it loads so fast & simple I can accomplish that with ease! I love how it takes just a drop of blood where before this meter I felt I was involved in a blood-letting practice. Overall, Im very impressed with my meter & wouldnt trade it for any other (even if they offered me preloaded strips). See more

I got this meter about 2 months ago to have a second meter. One for home and one for car. It works so much better that my old one. I thought all meters had faults in some on the strips. My freestyle always did. Every 4th 0r 5th strip would give me a error. But not the Contour Next EZ. I have tested 3 times a day for about 2 months and not a error yet. It is just marvelous.
