I was told after my son was born even though my diabetes was gestational I should still do a yearly 24 hour blood glucose test. This was fantastic, the kit had everything I needed for 24 hours of testing for $20.00. Also, the test strips are in 2 sealed jars so I will have a fresh jar of 10 strips to test again next year.

This is my first glucose meter (was only recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes) and, after only a couple of uses, it was fast and easy to use. Only problem has been with the test strips. Each canister has had about 2 dud strips but 1 50-piece canister had over 17 previously used (but hadnt been) strips. I actually started counting and saving the duds after the first few defective strips. Annoying and expensive.

This package was a pretty good value, since it came with 20 free test strips (which is rare, these days) and since Bayer offers decent price assistance with their Contour Choice program. The meter itself is a nice size and easy to operate, but its nothing special, and like most modern meters, requires you to either do a setup before using it, or to accept all of those stupid trend tracking defaults. (Sorry, but I hate those.) Also wouldnt let me program it with my actual glucose goals; it maxed out before what my PCP gave me as my allowable high. The case is shoddy; just a little vinyl wallet with a couple of pockets - guess you have to register the meter to get a better one. One warning; Bayer customer service is generally terrible, as I know from experience. See more

It worked ok. I had to use a lot of strips because it kept telling me not enough blood. Seemed random because I would squeeze blood out of a finger stick to cover the test strip. I dont remember how old the device is - not very old but not new. Probably stopped working because of age. Since there is no maybe for whether or not I would recommend the product I am forced to select no.

Easy to use meter with nice features. I had to switch meters and supplies because of insurance coverage requirements. I now have the accu check guide and I love the features. The Contour next was nice but doesnt have the bluetooth capabilities like the accucheck guide for convenient monitoring and tracking.
