My son was diagnosed with Type 1 last year, and we started using the FreeStyle Lite right out of the gate. It doesnt require much blood, its so simple to use my son does it all by himself now. This meter, combined with the Genteel pain free lancing device allows a great testing experience for son and father!

This kit had the meter and the sample of lancets only. No test strips were included as a sample so I could not test the meter until going to a store and buying the strips before being able to do so. The ship-to-store service is wonderful, however, and it assures you will get the item you want or need without going to the store and finding the shelf empty, which has happened to me/us more than once. I will recoommend this to friends and family but warn them to buy some sample test sstrips at the same time since you cannot test the meter without them. See more

I got this meter when I was admitted to the hospital, and found out that I was a diabetic. This meter is great because its accurate, shows your 7, 14 day average glucose levels, is small and lights up not only the display, but also the strip itself. The big problem that I have with it is that the strips are expensive. The lancing device itself is fine but the lancets it uses are a bit larger and painful. Ive only been able to find the 28G size. I have to use the lancer 4 times a day and considering that I switch out my fingers every time, I can still see spots where I used it. If they had a smaller size available, I would continue using it. I absolutely love this monitor. Its small so I just throw it in my bag or purse and take it with me. Everything fits in the pouch it comes with even room for alcohol wipes and lancets. Have used it everyday with testing twice a day and have had not one problem. I did find that testing in different areas left hand vs right hand there was about a 7 point difference after some research my conclusion is this is not due to the machine itself. Love the fact that it has a light in case your in low light or the dark. Only two things I do not like: 1. Does not come with the plug to use with a computer (bought seperately) 2. Paper log book (my work around use a app like onedrop) See more

I bought this as an extra, to keep in the car. It came really fast. The lancet is a bit smaller than my other one, so it fits very loosely into the strap in the case provided. I also find it a lot harder to prime - but you really dont feel it. It also only requires a very small drop of blood, which my fingers appreciate.
