One annoying feature is the dim, very dim display. I bought this Ultra to replace the Ultra that had the same problem.

Total waste of money! Insurance companies should be ashamed to recomend such a poor and expensive device. The generic strips dont work with it, despite they advertising to work with the ultra 2, seems along the way they made this newer model that doesnt use the older type test strips. Now it only uses their own brand, which is the most expensive test strips and the display is almost invisible, I had to use strong lighting and magnification to set it up. The lancet is also proprietary and doesnt use the generic ones and of course they cost 10 times more trhan the generic ones. As as for coding I never got that far, since I dont have the correct test strips to use it. So now I have 100 test strips that dont work on the curent ultra 2 meter as well as an unnusable machine due to the poor visibility of the dim lcd display. See more

I got this meter about 3 wks ago. The backlight is no help and the readings are not correct. Consecutive reading are different. Dont waste your insurance help on this. you will be paying for another out of your own pocket.

I dont like it. It takes more blood to put on the test strip. I also dont like the user guide. It is a fold out piece of paper, like a newspaper. I have a FreeStyle InsuLinx meter and I loved it. It had a touchscreen. But, Im on a Medicare Advantage Plan, they will no longer cover test strips for this meter. They will only pay for the OneTouch Meter. OneTouch has no touchscreen meters & they stopped making the booklet for all the meters. The company that makes the OneTocuch meters called me today & told me that.
